Niveau zero atelier is a French architecture studio gathering Mathias Vincent-Palazzi, Marlon Bagnou Beido and Thomas Flores. Their residency in Providenza consisted in searching on site languages of architecture and design that could be used for the development of Providenza as well as an artistic intervention. They researched on traditional construction techniques such as pisé and stone walls, working with ruins reflecting on the materials and their impermanence.
Niveau Zéro Atelier is a research and creation studio.
Using the tools of architecture, art and design, the studio develops a practice centred on investigating the territory and the uses and relationships that develop there.
By setting up a localized working method, it aims to enter into a creative cycle with the places that host it. From this positioning stems a multi-scale practice, ranging from the experimental to the ultra-functional, which can involve both speculation and pure and simple construction.
The workshop engages in a collective practice, in which questions of use, resources and exploration of the territory are paramount, thus affirming a political position while seeking to develop an aesthetic coherence. The result of a work born in parallel with their studies, the collective was created in Paris in 2020.
Niveau Zéro Atelier won the ADAGP 2020 Design Revelation Award, as well as the Faire Paris 2020 Award for the M.E.G.A. research project. Their work has been presented at the Salone del Mobile in Milan, at the ADAGP in Paris, and at Het Hem in Amsterdam. In 2022, they received the Enowe Artagon grant and the Format grant.
